HSPT is thrilled to offer pelvic physical therapy services. Kristen Davidson, PT, DPT, is a dedicated and compassionate pelvic physical therapist who joined our team in 2023. Pelvic PT focuses on treating dysfunction in the pelvic floor muscles, addressing conditions that affect both men and women. Through tailored exercises, manual therapy, biofeedback and education, Kristen helps her patients regain strength, control, and function.

What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?

Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues that support the pelvic organs become weakened, tight, or imbalanced. This can lead to various symptoms, including urinary or bowel incontinence, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and issues related to pregnancy or post-surgical recovery. Both men and women can experience pelvic floor dysfunction, which can significantly impact daily activities and quality of life.

How Can Pelvic Physical Therapy Help?

Pelvic physical therapy is designed to assess and treat the underlying causes of pelvic floor dysfunction. Through a combination of targeted exercises, manual therapy, biofeedback, and education, we work with patients to restore muscle function, relieve pain, and improve control and coordination of the pelvic floor. This personalized approach can reduce or eliminate symptoms, enhance overall pelvic health, and help patients regain confidence in their everyday lives.

Many conditions affecting both men and women are treatable with pelvic physical therapy, including bladder and bowel dysfunction, incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, pain associated with sex and penetration, pre and postpartum musculoskeletal conditions and more.
